COVID VACCINATION FOR PATIENTS AGED 50 YEARS OR OLDER

COVID VACCINATION FOR PATIENTS AGED 50 YEARS OR OLDER

All patients aged 50 years of age or older are now eligible for their COVID Vaccination. Many have already been vaccinated or are already booked for vaccination at our local GP led Vaccination Centre (Units 6 & 7, Fifth Avenue, Letchworth – near Sainsbury) or have arranged their vaccination via the National Booking System. Unfortunately the national booking system operates totally independently of the GP booking process and we are therefore unable to see who has booked via this route.

Therefore, if you are aged 50 years or over and have not yet had or booked your vaccination, please contact the surgery to book as soon as possible as we currently have vaccination appointments available.

As well as patients aged over 50 years, we are also able to offer the vaccination to younger adult patients who suffer from specific underlying conditions which increase their risk of severe illness from Coronavirus. The detail of which patients this applies to can be found on https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/priority-groups-for-coronavirus-covid-19-vaccination-advice-from-the-jcvi-30-december-2020/joint-committee-on-vaccination-and-immunisation-advice-on-priority-groups-for-covid-19-vaccination-30-december-2020 under the heading “Persons with Underlying Health Conditions”

The surgery has been working hard to identify all patients in this group and has endeavoured to contact everyone who is eligible for priority vaccination already. In the unlikely event that you feel you should be eligible, but have not been invited, please contact the surgery in order that your query can be considered and your vaccination subsequently booked, if appropriate. You can call either Ashwell or Bassingbourn Surgery and select option 4.

IN EITHER OF THE ABOVE SCENARIOS, PLEASE CONTACT US BEFORE WEDNESDAY 24th MARCH IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE YOUR VACCINATION AT OUR GP LED CENTRE.

Shortly after this date, though the national vaccination programme will continue, our GP led service will be focusing on delivering second doses to those patients we have already vaccinated only.

Thank you
